The Soča or Isonzo (in Italian) is a 137 km long river that flows through western Slovenia (95 km) and north-eastern Italy (42 km) it is one of the most beautiful river in Slovenia and hold stunning amount of fish. The total area of its basin is 3400 km2. Soča is a typical Alpine river. Its source lies in the Trenta Valley in the Julian Alps in north-western Slovenia, at an elevation of 876 metres. The river runs past the towns of Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, Kanal ob Soči, Nova Gorica nad Gorizia, entering the Adriatic Sea close to the Italian town of Monfalcone. Its main tributaries are Koritnica, Tolminka, Idrijca and Vipava in Slovenia; and Torre in Italy.
